I've been tagged too...

So this is a first for me and it's rather innocuous so, since I haven't had anything else to post about, I figured I might as well do this.

Book Meme:

Rules -

1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages.)
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

I only have a few books on my computer desk and they all pertain to homeschooling. The one on the top of the pile is called For the Children's Sake: Foundations of Education for Home and School by Susan Schaeffer MacAulay.

"I believe many grandmothers and grandfathers would provide their human warmth and interest if the problem was explaned to them. Such a child is crying out for attention. The child could then tell back the story and watch his very own words being written down."

Don't you want to know the context of this? Me too since I haven't read this far in the book yet. It's based on the teachings of Charlotte Mason, whose teaching methods I have become interested in and will probably use her curriculum next year...

Pittsburgh Pics

We had a great trip to Pittsburgh. We spent a little more than a week at my parents house. My sister Loey came with Craig and Ana and James for a few days over the weekend but we stayed the rest of the week spending time with Mother and Daddy, Jen, Brian, Sebastien and Oren. We also visited my Grandmothers and spent an evening with my friends Erin and Jess and their families. We went to see the 'Polar Lights' at the zoo one night and were vastly entertained by the sea otters but only caught a glimpse of the polar bear's sleeping backside. We also went to the Museum of Natural History where we at least got to see a stuffed polar bear as well as some dinosaur bones and other animals. We had good weather and very unevenetful drives to and from. Like I said, it was a great trip!

My 6 year old

Can you believe Noah is 6 years old today?! I wanted to do up one of those cool slideshows for him but all of his baby pictures are actual pictures and have to be scanned in. I would have done it but, oddly enough, the cable for my scanner is missing. It wasn't that long ago that I used it either...

Anyway, we were able to celebrate his birthday with my parents, who picked out a fabulous construction truck cake for him, and my sister Jen and her family while we were in Pittsburgh.

And today, Luke and I took him out to Red Robin for a birthday lunch. Then we will have a joint birthday dinner for Noah and Luke's Dad next Sunday. No parties this year but plenty of celebrating.

Happy Birthday Noah!
