Volcanos Make School Cool!
This week in history we studied the Island of Crete and the ancient Minoan civilization. The city of Minos and its inhabitants disappeared mysteriously and one of the theories is that the nearby island of Thera, which was actually a volcano, erupted, cracking the island and plunging it into the depths of the sea. The resulting tidal wave destroyed the neighboring city of Minos and the ash and smoke made the island of Crete uninhabitable. For our project, we decided to recreate the eruption that may have led to the destruction of the once great civilization.
It was nice that it also tied into our current science topic: Rocks, the different types and the way that they are formed.

Very impressive... the erupting volcano was always one of my favorite science experiments!
